The Ramona Farmstand Map
More than thirty working farm stands sit on this plateau. Most of them are at the end of a road you would never think to turn down, a good number run on the honor system, and almost none of them appeared on any map. So we drove the roads and gave them a home.

Drive it
Opens in Google Maps on your phone. Tap a stand, hit directions, go. This is the one to use when you are already in the car.
Fly it
The Google Earth version, for planning at the kitchen table. You get the hills, the groves and the roads the way they actually sit, which is the part a flat map cannot tell you.
Print it
The illustrated version, drawn by hand. Cell service gets thin out past the wineries, and paper does not care. Ours lives in the glovebox.
Somebody actually drew this.
The illustrated version is the one people put on the refrigerator. Every stand on it is a place that sells local, and it gets redrawn as stands open and close — this is version 36. There is a QR code in the corner: scan it and the interactive version opens in your map app.

A map tells you where the stands are. It does not tell you which one has the good sourdough, which one restocks on Thursday morning, which two are worth the drive out past the wineries and which one you can skip.

We did not map this town from a desk. We have a farm stand of our own at the back gate, and we make a show about the rest of them. You can drive out for the day. It is a much better day if you wake up in the middle of it.
Red Barn Ranch
Four acres of working farm. Six bedrooms, a fenced pool, a vineyard, hens and a 2,200 square foot arcade barn. Mini Barn Market is at the back gate.
Mountain Retreat
Eight acres at the base of Iron Mountain. Hiking trails, an arcade, a hot tub and a fire pit under a star-filled sky.

Carissa hosts Farmstand.TV, which is exactly what it sounds like: a show about the farm stands of Southern California. Mapping Ramona was the first thing we did, because it was the town we knew and nobody had done it.
