Farmhouse GetawaysRamona, California
Cory & Carissa

Farmhouse Getaways is the two of us.

We created it because we love hosting, and because we wanted somewhere people could step out of the noise for a while. Clean air, slow mornings, open space, and plenty to do with nobody hurrying anyone along. Groups arrive worn out from ordinary life and leave rested — and yes, still telling the stories years later.

Why we do it

Made for coming together.

Both houses are put together for the way groups actually spend time: room for everyone to gather, room to slip away when you need it, and plenty to do without anyone getting back in a car. Long dinners, card games that go too late, children who reappear at bedtime covered in something.

We are proud of how they are made. The land is kept chemical-free and so are the products in the houses. The furniture was chosen to last, the linens are natural fibre, and we have thought hard about the small things that make a week comfortable for everyone in a group — from the newborn to the grandparents. A farm stay should still feel like a proper holiday, so the houses are spotless, the beds are good, and things work.

We met with two different dreams. Cory competed on American Ninja Warrior in seasons six and eight, and his house became somewhere other competitors came to stay and train. Carissa had spent years working in hotels and had always wanted a bed and breakfast of her own. We built this out of both.

Her eye is on nature and comfort, his on tech and activities, and the blend runs through everything here. It is why the internet reaches every corner, why the locks and the lighting and the pool simply turn on rather than needing to figure it out, and why there is a barn full of things to play.

We want you to have the best week we can give you, and we take our lead from you. Some groups want us involved — the animals, the gardens, a chef, mornings with something planned. Some want the place entirely to themselves and way to text us in case something breaks. Tell us which you are, and that is the week you will get.

What we also do

We make the show about farm stands.

After we built Mini Barn Market, it became obvious that Ramona had a farm stand culture that not many outside the area knew about. So we started Farmstand.TV, a series about the hidden places across Southern California where you can buy food from the people who grew it.

Then we drew the Ramona Farmstand Map — thirty-plus active stands, plus the wineries and the trails and everything else worth stopping for. It is the reason people now drive out here specifically to eat their way across a town much of San Diego has never visited.

Two ways to do it

A farm stay, at whatever pace you are after.

These are nature-based stays. We would like you outside — watching the birds, walking the land, letting the days go slowly.

We live at Red Barn Ranch, where we look after the animals, the gardens and the farm stand. So if your group would like a walk through the bird garden, a turn around the gardens, something to harvest, seeds to plant or eggs to gather, we are glad to arrange it.

Mountain Retreat is the quieter, more do-it-yourself version. The trails start at the back fence and the eight acres are yours to wander. And if you would like a little farm charm while you are here, our farm stand is a short drive down the road.

  • Eco-friendlyNo chemicals on the land, and the shampoo, soap and laundry soap in the houses are ours and chemical-free too.
  • Made to lastFurniture chosen to last, natural-fibre linens, and rooms arranged for the way groups really use them.
  • Hands on, if you want itEggs to gather, gardens to walk, animals to meet at the ranch. The children especially.
  • Yours to chooseSome groups want everything shown to them. Some want the place entirely to themselves. Both are lovely.

Whatever kind of week you are after, we would love to host you.

One family of places

Four names, one gate.

Farmhouse Getaways is the roof over all of it. Red Barn Ranch and Mountain Retreat are the two stays. Mini Barn Market is the farm store at the back of the ranch.

Book any one of them and you get the same two people looking after you.
